9 Reasons To Buy Your New PC from San Carlos Computers

1What We Sell       2.  The SCC Advantage    3.     Suitability    4.     Reliability    5.     The CPU     6.     The Software     7.     Ability to Upgrade    8.     Technical Support     9.     Amazing Value

Ability to upgrade is a major advantage of buying a custom computer such as one assembled for you by San Carlos Computers.  Most brand name companies use a percentage of proprietary components, which are not truly generic. This makes it difficult to substitute a similar part of improved design or higher quality. You may be forced to use only parts from the original maker, which usually cost more than generic parts of the same or better quality. Sometimes there is nothing you can do if you want to make an improvement. For example, video card performance is constantly being upgraded as new features are made available. If you buy a brand name computer you may find it impossible to change the video card, because many brand name companies integrate the video section with the motherboard and it cannot be changed.  Many brand name computers use proprietary motherboards with non-standard dimensions designed to lower costs but are impossible to upgrade.   The best-designed motherboards are not made by “brand name” box makers.  They are made by firms which specialize in them and have universal footprints.  The advantage is you have the ability to upgrade to a new motherboard a few years later, because motherboards are constantly being improved.

Saving the environment by upgrading your PC

Upgrading is Green.  Interested in saving money? Consider upgrading your PC.  Maybe your five-year-old Pentium 300 desktop machine is working just fine, but you feel that technology has advanced far enough that it is time to replace it. You might want to consider upgrading rather than purchasing a new computer.  If your computer is five years old or less, there is a good chance most of the hardware has years of useful life remaining.  The CD-ROM and floppy drives, the power supply, the monitor, the keyboard, the cabinet, all can be reused if you upgrade your system with a new motherboard. RAM chips and hard drives are also very cheap these days.  If your old hard drive is too small, add a new one and keep the old one as a slave.   Besides saving money, there is another reason, perhaps a better one, for upgrading. You may have heard that the USA has big problem with people throwing away no longer needed electronic appliances, especially Personal Computers. It is conservatively estimated that 15 million PCs end up in public dumps every year.  This has become a major environmental problem because the many different metals and chemicals used in computers will remain in the ground indefinitely, gradually decaying and releasing harmful substances. By upgrading your computer you will be helping to save the environment!
